Neonatal Resuscitation Program- NRP

Course Description

The NRP Provider Course introduces the concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation. It is designed for health care professionals involved in any aspect of neonatal resuscitation, including physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, nurse midwives, licensed midwives, respiratory care practitioners, and other health care professionals who provide direct care during neonatal resuscitation.


Part 1: Online ($55)


• Self-study the Neonatal Resuscitation textbook, 8th Ed.

• Take the online provider exam on AAPs website.

• Print the certificate and bring it to the Part 2 Hands-on portion. 


Part 2: Instructor-led Event. Hands-on portion at CPR Central. ($149)


The Performance Skills Station provides an opportunity to practice and review technical hands-on resuscitation skills with instructor assistance. Simulation and debriefing provides a safe setting in which to integrate cognitive and technical skills, and focus on team communication and patient safety. (aprox. 3 hours)

Recommended book $60

There are two levels of certification.

Essentials and Advanced.

How do I know which course to choose?

Each employer will determine their policy for who should attain

NRP Essentials vs NRP Advanced Provider.

If a healthcare professional is unsure which level to take,

they should probably take NRP Advanced

or check with their employer.

Some birth assistants & doulas:

This course is for those who may be involved in the care of a newborn and who may be called upon to initiate resuscitation INCLUDING positive pressure ventilations.

NRP 8th Edition ADVANCED

(1-11)


For most NRP providers:

This course is for those who may be called upon to participate as an Advanced Provider in a neonatal resuscitation BEYOND positive pressure ventilations.
